The History Behind MBT

Martinsburg Bank and Trust is a locally owned, independent community bank serving a wide customer base in mid-Missouri. We have eight facilities located in Martinsburg, Mexico, Wellsville, Montgomery City, Centralia, Hallsville, Vandalia, and Columbia.
Since 1893, the bank has provided exceptional service to the residents of Audrain, Montgomery and Boone counties. The bank originated in Martinsburg, Mo when $10,000 in capital was offered by a group of farmers and professional men from Martinsburg, Wellsville and Mexico. Some of the same families are among our stockholders today.
In 1988, the bank expanded to Mexico. New branches were established in Wellsville (1991), Montgomery City (1997), Centralia (1999), Hallsville (2003), Vandalia (2006) and Columbia (2007).
In 2006, MBT established an affiliation with Hillebrand Insurance Agency in Vandalia so each of our offices can offer insurance to our customers through our independent agents.
We offer the same products and services that are offered by the larger bank corporations, while maintaining small town friendliness and quality customer service. In addition to the traditional bank products, we have a certified financial planner on our staff as well as a trust and investment department. Our commercial customers can enjoy the convenience of our Merchant Capture program which allows businesses to make deposits from their work site. MBT also offers a Check Recovery program to our business customers which will collect their returned checks for them. This service is offered free of charge and boasts a collection recovery rate of 85%.
