Southern Commercial Bank is rich with history and tradition. In the late 1800’s John Krauss, a German-born blacksmith turned entrepreneur, wanted a bank that would not be harnessed by the downtown St. Louis bankers and business interests. He wanted a bank that would be independent; one that would serve the residents and businesses of the immediate community and treat everyone as an equal. And so it was that Southern Commercial Bank was formed.
In its more than 100 year history Southern Commercial Bank has managed to ride through the good times and the not-so-good times as a strong, independent bank and continues to provide residents and businesses in its communities with a solid, honest, fair and consistent community bank.
